FREE ideas and activities for parents to entertain the kids indoors, during school holidays or rainy days.
Use root vegetables such as potatoes and carrots to carve shapes or letters in. This will have to be done carefully by an adult with a sharp knife. Carve away the vegetable, leaving the profile of a letter of shape raised up. This can then be dipped into a tray with paint in and patterns created on paper.
Tip: If possible leave the vegetable to dry out for a little while before beginning painting. Once it is cut into the juices will be released and the vegetable will be quite wet.
